Finding things for young carers to do locally

Young carers need a break from their caring roles to socialise, exercise and relax, just like children who do not have caring roles are able to do. Here are some of the options available within North Tyneside that may just help a young carer to take the break that they need.

If the young carer and their family are comfortable with their information being shared, it may be useful for you to talk to the people organising the activities about the young person’s situation, so that that understand that they may be concerned about their family from time to time.

It is sometimes difficult for young carers to access groups and activities because of the caring commitments within their family. If this is the case and the family are really struggling to support the young person’s extra curricular engagement, contact The Young Carers’ Service on 0191 643 2298.
